MAINADVANTAGES

– Major water problems are solved with a single filter instead of 2-3 filters.
– Stable quality of purified water throughout its lifetime.
– Regeneration requires little salt.

WHERE IS IT USED?

“Ecomix® C is used in Ecosoft’s FK type filters. “Ecomix® C is added to the filter in the form of a mixture and broken down into five layers during the first regeneration. Normal table salt is used for regeneration.

Filtration systems with Ecomix® C material are widely used in both domestic and industrial applications.

MECHANISM OF ACTION

1. Inert material – improves backwashing.
2. FerroSorb sorbent reduces iron and manganese.
The mechanism of iron reduction consists of adsorption (fixation) on the surface of the material, oxidation, formation of an active layer and autocatalytic oxidation. This results in a reduction of the main forms of iron: dissolved, oxidised, organic and colloidal.
The best iron and manganese removal efficiency is achieved by feeding the well water directly into the Ecomix material.
3. “HumiSorb sorbent – for reducing permanganate oxidation and water colour.
Organic compounds are removed by electrostatic hydrophobic interactions.
4. Ion exchange resin (cationite) – softens water.
When water is filtered through cation exchange, the hardness ions Ca2+ and Mg2+ are replaced by Na+ ions. During regeneration, calcium and magnesium ions are washed down the drain and the cationite is saturated with sodium ions from the salt solution.
5. Silica sand is used to evenly distribute the flow of water through the filter media during washing.

“REGENERATION OF ECOMIX® FILTER MEDIA

During operation, the filter medium is periodically regenerated with a salt solution, as in the case of a conventional ion exchange resin.
– In the salt regeneration phase, calcium and magnesium ions are replaced by sodium ions.
– Iron and manganese compounds are removed by friction of the FerroSorb grain surface in the liquid layer during backwashing.
– The reverse sorption mechanism of organic compounds on HumiSorb allows for efficient regeneration.
